Mayor Shirley Franklin to attend Sandtown Town Hall Meeting

Atlanta, GA, FEB 20, 2007 – Sandtown residents interested in learning about what the city of Atlanta can offer will be attending a Town Hall Meeting tonight with Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin on Tuesday February 20 at 6:00 PM. The meeting will take place at Owl Rock United Methodist Church located at 5880 Campbellton Road, SW, Atlanta, GA (HWY 166 - Campbellton Road and Union Rd).

Since June of 2006 hundreds of Sandtown residents signed petitions to join the city of Atlanta.  Last year the city of Atlanta welcomed the South West Fulton communities of Horseshoe and Midwest Cascade (Guilford Forrest, Reunion Place, and Regency Park subdivisions, portions of Cascade Knolls, and a number of residents on Cascade, Danforth and New Hope Roads).

Atlanta continues to process annexation requests for communities in South West Fulton and will do so until June 2007. A vote by Atlanta City Council to welcome The Regency and the Huntington Community into Atlanta's borders is imminent.
